Op deze wijze willen we u informeren over het aanstaande politicologenetmaal.

Dr. Maurits Meijers en Dr. Andrej Zaslove, Radboud Universiteit hebben ons zojuist verwittigd van het volgende besluit gezien de aankondigingen van het kabinet gisterenavond (dinsdag 21 april).
\u00a0
Omdat het kabinet heeft aangekondigd dat alle evenementen tot 1 september 2020 zullen worden verboden, spijt het ons u te moeten meedelen dat het Politicologenetmaal 2020 niet kan plaatsvinden op 11-12 juni 2020, zoals eerder was voorzien.

Het politicologenetmaal 2020 is verplaatst en vindt plaats op zaterdag 3 oktober 2020<\/strong>.
In tegenstelling tot onze traditie om een ’24-uurs’-conferentie te zijn, wordt de conferentie gehouden als een eendaagse conferentie.
\u00a0
De komende dagen zullen workshopchairs in contact komen met panelleden en vragen of ze willen bevestigen of ze kunnen blijven deelnemen aan de workshop op 3 oktober 2020. Workshopchairs mogen eventueel extra deelnemers werven voor hun workshops, maar er zal geen formele verlenging van de Call for Papers (CfP) zijn. Sommige workshopchairs kunnen ervoor kiezen om voor hun workshop een extra CfP rond te sturen. Leden die interesse hebben om deel te nemen, kunnen daarom rechtstreeks de workshopchairs aanschrijven, indien ze graag willen deelnemen en nog niet bij een workshop zijn toegelaten. Het is aan de workshopstoelen om te beslissen of er ruimte is voor extra deelnemers.

De selectie van workshops zal tijdens de zomer worden afgerond. Workshopchairs is gevraagd om de volledige deelnemerslijst uiterlijk 14 augustus 2020<\/strong> (eerder is mogelijk) naar de organisatoren te sturen.

De registratie wordt binnenkort geopend en sluit op 19 september 2020<\/strong>.
\u00a0
We realiseren ons maar al te goed dat er nog veel onduidelijkheid bestaat over of publieksevenementen daadwerkelijk door kunnen gaat dit najaar. We hebben zeker de mogelijkheid overwogen dat, vanwege overheidsregels, ook de conferentie op 3 oktober te zijner tijd eventueel alsnog kan moeten worden geannuleerd. Maar aangezien iedereen al veel werk heeft gestoken in het organiseren van deze conferentie, wilden we niet op dit moment al de conferentie meteen annuleren. Wij zijn van mening dat de bovenstaande bepalingen een minimale extra inspanning vergen die de moeite waard is voor het geval de conferentie alsnog in oktober kan plaatsvinden.

Voor alle duidelijkheid, voor het geval dat de conferentie op 3 oktober alsnog moet worden geannuleerd, zullen de registratiegelden van geregistreerde deelnemers volledig terugbetaald worden.<\/strong>

Mocht u door de huidige situatie niet meer kunnen deelnemen aan uw workshop, schrijf dan alstublieft naar de workshopchair. We weten dat dit uiterst stressvolle tijden zijn, gezien het feit dat velen thuis werken, thuisonderwijs verzorgen en\/of andere zorgtaken hebben, en wellicht heeft u zelfs te maken met ziekte, economische onzekerheid, of ander persoonlijk verlies.

Following my last note, on 13 March, here is an update about the upcoming \u2018politicologenetmaal\u2019 (the annual Dutch\/Flemish political science conference).
\u00a0
Dr Maurits Meijers en Dr. Andrej Zaslove, of the Radboud Universiteit have provided us with the following update in light of the announcements last night of the Dutch government.
\u00a0
We regret to inform you that the Politicologenetmaal 2020 cannot take place as scheduled on June 11-12, 2020. The Dutch government has announced that all events will be banned until September 1, 2020.
The conference will be postponed to Saturday October 3, 2020<\/strong>. In contrast to our tradition of being a \u201924 hour\u2019 conference, the conference will be held as a one-day conference.

In the next days, workshop chairs will be getting in touch with panel participants and ask whether they wish to participate in the workshop on October 3, 2020. Workshop Chairs are permitted to recruit additional participants for their workshops, but there will not be a formally extension of the Call for Papers. Some workshop chairs may opt to send out an additional Call for Paper invitations for their workshop. Any members interested in participating may therefore approach workshop chairs directly, if they wish to be considered to be added to a workshop. It is the discretion of the workshop chairs to decide if there is space for additional presenters.

Workshop selection will be formalized over the summer. Workshop chairs have been asked to send the full list of participants to the organisers no later than\u00a0August 14, 2020 <\/strong>(earlier is possible).
Registration will open soon and will close on\u00a0September 19, 2020<\/strong>.

We are all aware there is still a lot of uncertainty regarding the possibilities for public events in autumn. We definitely entertain the possibility that \u2013 due to government regulations \u2013 also the October 3 date will have to be cancelled. Yet as everyone has put a lot of work in organizing this conference already, we are reluctant to cancel the conference outright at this stage. We believe that the above provisions require minimal additional effort that is worth investing in case the conference can take place.
In case of cancellation of the October 3 date, registered participants can receive a\u00a0full refund<\/strong>.

If you feel that the current situation does not allow you to continue participation in your workshop, please write to the workshop chair. We understand that these are extremely stressful times as people cope with home office, homeschooling, and other care responsibilities. \u00a0
